Fly Fishing in Northumberland at Westwater Angling Club
The water's edge at Hallington
Westwater Angling Ltd is a renowned and unique stillwater fly fishing club with private access to two superb, large and tranquil lakes at Hallington, just a quiet few miles east of the A68, and north of the military road, in Northumberland.
Regularly stocked with hard fighting, fully finned Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout, these waters offer the angler, novice or expert, something different, something quieter, a haven away from the time pressure, competitiveness and sometimes crowded atmosphere of day ticket, fish by the hour, venues.

Catch & Keep fishing is available on both the west lake and east lake at Hallington, and …

Catch & Release fishing is available, along side Catch & Keep, on the west lake.

Currently, you can fish from the banks, wade out where it’s shallow, or take one of the boats, which are free of charge. With an average depth of 15ft there are good hatches of fly, and a typical fish is between 2 to 2 1/2 lb. The largest Rainbows caught are over 9 lb, and the Brownies over 11lb. The emphasis is on catching a reasonable number of fish per day, per month, or per year. The fish are in excellent condition as a result, and taste delicious.

We do hope you enjoy your look around our website, and very much look forward to welcoming you, in person, to Hallington, and to Westwater Angling, in the near future.
