Fishing Report to 31st August 2010
The water levels have now started to fall on West Hallington on East Hallington the water level also continues to drop slowly. The cool weather has continued and both reservoirs have continued to fish really well with a fish catch of 3.5 trout per rod day.
On East, the area around Reservoir house continues to produce fish and also the inlet area is fishing well. A high percentage of trout coming from the inlet are being taken with small floating patterns. The north shore of west is also giving good catches now that the water level is dropping.

Catches

2722 trout have been caught in August by 759 anglers an average of 3.59 trout per rod. The average weight of the trout caught in August is 32.1 oz, 204 limit bags have been taken. The largest trout from East Hallington was 8 lb 0 ozs and from the West 7 lb 4 oz.

Flies

The most successful method at the moment is fishing the inlets with small flies and pupa just sub surface. Small Dawson’s and Cats Whiskers have done well from boats.

Prospects

The finishing time for September is dusk, currently 8.15 pm. It then will stay at dusk until the end of the season. Small black flies are now getting onto the water in the afternoon and over the next few weeks will give good fishing for the dry fly angler.
