The water levels at Hallington have continued to fall throughout September and the fishing has improved along with the falling water. Though boat fishing has been difficult in the high winds, there is shelter at Hallington from most wind directions and bags in excess of six are still being taken on a regular basis, small traditional flies are taking the best catches from the boats. |

Fishery report 16th to 31st July |
|
There has still been no significant change in water levels in either Hallington East or West for over two months; water levels are now the highest in July for 20 years. Most of the trout have remained close to the bank feeding in the flooded margins. Trout are now being taken from the bank on a variety of small sedge flies, Small Invicta, Solder Palmer and Small Amber Nymph are taking trout. Good beetle and Corixa imitations are also fishing well. Some fish are still feeding on fry especially around the East Reservoir inflow and numbers of larger trout have been taken from this area with lures. Sedges continue to hatch in the evenings and are being avidly taken by the trout. |
